Benjamin Sigerson (b. 2001) is a composer and jazz pianist from Vancouver, B.C. Finishing his undergraduate degree in classical composition at McGill university where he has studied with Brian Cherney and Christine Jensen. Sigerson has won several awards for his compositions, including twice the Vancouver Chamber Choir’s young composer competition, and the Barbara Pentland Award from the Canadian Music Center. As a pianist, he has played with Kevin Dean, Ira Coleman, Craig Scott, Steve Maddock, and many others, in addition to being a 2023 recipient of the Fraser MacPherson Jazz Fund Scholarship. He has appeared as a pianist and composer on four records, most recently the album Dogs of Orion, and is currently writing a musicology book of interviews and essays on vancouver jazz pianists.
