About the Artist(s)
Ilhan Saferali is a Canadian musician currently based out of New York City. After making a name for himself as a promising young talent on the Vancouver Jazz scene in his late teens, Ilhan moved to New York to study Jazz performance at The New School and develop his professional/artistic career. Ilhan is a trumpet player, pianist and composer who has worked and studied with many Jazz greats such as Reggie Workman, Jean Michel-Pilc, Jimmy Owens, Allison Miller, Neil Swainson, Brad Turner, Christine Jensen and many more. Ilhan will be bringing a swinging quartet to Frankie’s After Dark with repertoire paying homage to the great jazz lineage with compositions by Thelonious Monk, Billy Strayhorn, Cole Porter and others.
Caity Gyorgy (pronounced George) is 2 time JUNO award winning Canadian vocalist who is known for singing bebop and swing music. She has performed at popular clubs and jazz festivals across Canada, the USA, Mexico and Japan and has worked and recorded with incredible musicians and groups including Christine Jensen, Pat LaBarbera, Jocelyn Gould, Ira Coleman, Allison Au, Bryn Roberts and Postmodern Jukebox, to name a few. Her next album “You’re Alike, You Two”, a collection of Jerome Kern songs performed with pianist Mark Limacher, will be released on July 21st, 2023
For this special performance, Caity & Ilhan will be joined by Ben Boardman on bass & Jacob Wutzke on drums
