Allen is a disciple and former student of Joe Henderson and his saxophone trio work has been acknowledged by Coda Magazine as “a substantial contribution to the genre”. Vancouver jazz fans will experience the magic first-hand as Mike Allen teams up with hard-swinging bassist, John Lee, and world-renowned drummer, Carl Allen. Carl is the William D. and Mary Grant/Missouri Endowed Professor of Jazz Studies at the UMKC Conservatory in Kansas City, MO. John Lee is a B.C.-based virtuoso, multi-instrumentalist who plays bass with a joyful swing reminiscent of Ray Brown.
