An exciting straight-ahead collective of some of Canada’s finest jazz musicians, the Cookers Quintet represents the best of two worlds. Drawing largely on the straight-ahead, classic jazz tradition, the band still carves out a lineage of authentically Canadian jazz music. They formed in 2009 in Toronto out of a shared passion for swinging, traditional jazz music and, along the way, the group has developed a catalogue of original music. After signing with Do Right Music in 2015 the group has released The Cookers Quintet – Volume 1 and Volume 2 and The Cookers Quintet Meets Johnny O’Neal. With Tim Hamel trumpet, Ryan Oliver tenor saxophone, Bernie Senensky- piano, Alex Coleman bass, and Joe Poole drums.
